Allergy Care

Our immune systems work tirelessly to protect us from harmful viruses and bacteria. But sometimes, our bodies can mistake harmless substances (like animal dander, dust, or grass) for dangerous invaders, and our body’s defense systems will go on the attack - much like “friendly fire” on the battlefield.

Common Allergy Triggers

Your body may react to things it experiences every day, or to common triggers including:

  • Dust mites
  • Foods
    • Peanuts
    • Shellfish
    • Soy
  • Mold spores
  • Pets
  • Pollens

Your allergies need to be accurately diagnosed by a professional. A simple allergy test will leave you with a partial diagnosis, and an accurate allergy diagnosis has three parts:

  1. A detailed allergy history
  2. Allergy testing
  3. Specialized knowledge of the complex relationship between allergy history and testing

Common Allergy Symptoms

Allergy symptoms typically vary person-to-person, but common symptoms include:

  • Abdominal pain
  • Congestion
  • Coughing
  • Cramps
  • Diarrhea
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Dizziness
  • Itchy eyes, nose, throat
  • Mental confusion
  • Rash
  • Sneezing
  • Swelling
  • Vomiting
  • Wheezing

If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, please make an appointment today.

Treating Allergies

After you have been accurately tested, our team will evaluate your results and create your treatment plan.

Allergy treatments usually involve three parts: avoiding what is causing your reaction, taking medication, and/or getting allergy vaccine therapy (AVT), which is also known as allergy shots.

Avoiding your allergy trigger is not always possible, and medications often do not provide long-lasting benefits. When allergies interfere with your normal functioning, allergy shots may be right for you.

Asthma & Other Ailments

We can also diagnose and treat issues that may or may not be related to allergies, such as asthma, and problems of the immune system, such as autoimmune diseases and immunodeficiency diseases. Smoking cessation services are also offered.

Rheumatology

Musculoskeletal and autoimmune conditions can cause stiffness, pain, and swelling in your joints, muscles, and/or bones. The Rheumatology team detects and treats rheumatic diseases, including:

  • Fibromyalgia
  • Lupus
  • Myositis
  • Rheumatoid arthritis
  • Sarcoidosis
  • Sjogren's syndrome
  • Spondyloarthritis
  • Vasculitis
