DAISY Award winners personify Canton-Potsdam Hospital's and Gouverneur Hospital's remarkable patient experience. The DAISY Award is an international program recognizing exceptional clinical expertise and compassion. Fifteen countries, 50 US states, and 2000 health care facilities participate in the DAISY Award program.
Annually, both hospitals select a member of their respective nursing staffs who demonstrate the attributes of an exceptional professional. DAISY Award nominees must demonstrate compassion; teamwork; persistent patient advocacy; community awareness; timely, informative, and therapeutic communication; and consistent adherence to the highest clinical and ethical standards of the nursing profession.
DAISY Award winners are recognized at a public ceremony to which they may invite their families, and peers from their unit(s). They receive a hand-carved stone sculpture entitled A Healer's Touch, a DAISY pin, and their unit(s) will share in their accomplishments by enjoying complimentary cinnamon rolls, a favorite of the patient in whose memory this international award program was created.
DAISY Award winners are selected from among nominations from patients and their families, community members, providers, and peers. Anyone may complete a nomination. Please provide as many specific details as possible: evidence of the above attributes will assist the selection committee to select the most deserving nominee.

Nomination forms at GH, 77 West Barney Street, Gouverneur, are available in waiting areas, each inpatient unit, and inside each elevator.
